Book him Dano!

The last week or so has been mental - as ever. But of course nothing compared to the devastation that Sandy caused across the pond.

I have many friends and contacts over there and I'm delighted that they all got through it reletively unscathed.

In fact Jay from Unstoppable sent me issue 7 of StormChasers and it's on the board now!

I also got back some coloured and lettered pages for Unstoppable Origins 2 : Phantomhawk (page 1 above) and it's looking great.

It was also nice to talk to a great writer and creator Adam Cheal. He interviewed me last week for comicbooked.com and has also asked me to join a British Talent anthology which looks like being great fun.

You can find out more about the anthology at https://www.facebook.com/BritishShowcaseComic and read the interview at http://www.comicbooked.com/british-showcase-interview-russ-leach/.

Back soon with some pages :)

Avast me harties!

Another infrequent post - must do more I think!

What's going on...

Unstoppable comics run is going into overdive and issue 7 will be on the board this October. They are going to the NYCC http://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/ this October so look out for them there.

I'm currently producing some promo art for Jay and that should be available as well.

Phantomhawk origin #1 is done and #2 will be on my board I would imagine in November.

Here's a sneak peak at some great colours from Mike...

I am now working with Tim Quinn brother of the talented Jason Quinn who wrote the Chronic Argonauts http://chronicargo.newbabyproductions.com/default.aspx. The book is currently having the novie script treatment and Eric (wonder Editor and publisher) is getting some great feedback.

Tim Quinn is himself a multi talented writer and has numerous industry credits. Once we have some pages I will post here how that strip is doing.

And finally... for this post. I am once again working with Thomas Muzzell of FineLineInk http://finelineink.ca/ - he's doing some great things at present and he asked me to produce a 16 page pirate strip!

So here is a sample page from the 16 pager.
I'll post here soon as to how to buy the finished product.

Yahaaargghhh!

Unstoppable!!

Well it's been a while as I've been in full swing production as well as organising a home move!

What's goin on?

At present I'm about to start the concept for issue 4 of Signs And Voices. This is a fantastic project I have been fortunate enough to be involved with and you can find out more at http://www.signsandvoices.com/

Spectral Detective is close to presentation stage and will be sent out to publishers for submission next month.

The SECRET project is still SECRET but moves forward. Hoping I can shout about that one soon.

I'm also involved in a couple of other pitches which will come to light soon.

The main bulk of my work at present is with JayDee over at Unstoppable Comics. I'm currently on Phantomhawk issue 1 and hope to be getting issue 2 and STormchasers 7 underway. In the meantime I wanted to show a sneak peak of issue 6 as Mike Summers' colours are just the bizz.

Currently Unstoppable are tearing it up at DriveThru comics and more info can be found at http://www.unstoppablecomics.com/

Unstoppable Comics are keeping me busy at the moment. Just finished Storm Chasers #6 and whilst waiting for #7 script from Jay I'm producing line work for the Phantomhawk origin story.

Monday 23 April 2012

Just in time!!

Last year I had the pleasure of producing linework for Eric Mullarky over at NewBaby Productions to the fantastic script by Jason Quinn (Ben10 and Marvel).

Anyway, the graphic novel I worked on was called the Chronic Argonauts and was based on the works of HG Wells as well as his story of the same name. If you've read the blog or visited www.kre8uk.net you'll be familiar with it.

Jason managed to expand and improve on the masters original brief tale that preceeded all time travel stories based around a time machine or science fiction premise.

Well the story is about to be launched on Android and the app is being produced now.

The minimum funding has been achieved but there is still time for people to help fund this great project.

Not only that, because of the great model appbackr.com runs investors will actually profit from their investment - not just receive great perks.

So head on over to H.G.-Wells--The-Chronic-Argonauts at appbackr.com and see if it tempts your entrepenuerial spirit!

Thanks in advance to anyone who decides to join the journey :)

Here are some pages to whet the appetite.

Cover to cover

After seeing some great colour work from Mike last week on the StormChasers cover I got around to doing linework for StormChasers 6 this week.

I managed to get the cover done in between a barage of other work - groan. But once finished I was able to enjoy producing the next issues cover.

Also Mike managed to finish off some wonderful colour pages for Spectral Detective which will soon be lettered and ready for submission.

Big shout out to Jay at Unstoppable Comics - he's at the Boston Comic Con with the debut of Dragonstorm - Good luck Jay - I have a good feeling about where it's all going :)

Now.. the cover

Storm Chasers Cover

Over the weekend I had a surprise.

big smile :)

Friday 6 April 2012

Downtime - what a bummer!

Ok - this week was pretty much a right - off!

Pulled a back muscle Monday morning and spent till Wednesday incapacitated - bummer!.

It's just starting to feel better now and I have been able to get back to StormChasers production today.

On the plus side Jay at Unstoppable Comics has confirmed that he would like me to not only continue on the series but take it into the future, which I am thrilled at and I had a nibble at another couple of projects this week also.

I'd like to just ask everyone reading this to spare a thought for the legend that is Rusty Gilligan. He will be going in to hospital next week and hopes to have some long term issues sorted. Good luck Rusty and get back to that ink well soon :)

ink well... soon.. see what I did there ;)
anyways... all the best Rusty!

So whilst I am getting on with the next StormChasers here is a pic of the amazing Marvelman that I posted for some fun on down the tubes - the link will take you to a gallery with some great art from other forum members!

A little cover work

Started work on Stormchasers 6 this week. Should have some finished artwork next week and I'll show some if Jay lets me :)

I did knock up a cover for R Squared comicz this week as well which I thought I'd show and pop up some links.

It's for an anthology and I strayed into the realm of colouring for this one.

Here is a splash page from the story and now I'm off to read the script for StormChasers 6 before I start work on Monday

nice :)

Friday 16 March 2012

A little me time

Finished off stormchasers issue 5 this week and Jay has asked me back for issue 6 which I'm delighted at.

Next week I am producing some art for a submission piece with Steve Tanner of TimeBomb comics and so will be back on to Stormchasers issue 6 the week after.

In the meantime I had some time to myself this afternoon and whipped up a pinup!

Chasing the Storm!

StormChasers issue 5 line work is in its final phase now so I thought I'd pop up a cover/promo piece.

I checked with the ever helpfull Jay and he said it was cool, so I wanted to get this up and show people.

Hopefully everyone else will be as excited as I am to see the finished article - and I can't wait to see Mikes colours!

On an almost related note ... Mike Summers is also working on the Spectral Detective submission which I will show a couple of pages soon. It's a great story by the talented Kevin Gunstone and we now have a great team to take the submission to it's potential and send off to some publishers soon.

here's the StormChasers

Chronic Argonauts can make you money!

New Baby productions, publisher of the upcoming OGN The Chronic Argonauts, is currently running a crowd funding campaign to make the Chronic Argonauts graphic novel into a tablet based app.

But it's not just asking for money with small rewards its also yielding a profit for those people who fund!

NewBaby has partnered with appbackr.com for the crowd funding and the ingenius system means that backers can also reap the financial rewards from the sale of the app.

Take a look at...

In the meantime here is some art from the finished project.

Stormchasers are go!!

As I mentioned in my last post I am working with JayDee Rosario over at Unstoppable Comics on the latest issue of Stormchasers.

It's a super hero book which I haven't done in a while so I'm having great fun producing the line work. Jay has already posted page 3 so I thought I'd pop it up on my blog as well :)

Mike Summers will be producing the colours on the book so I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Mike does some great work and Jay is proving to be a great publisher/editor to work with.

And breath.....

Sorry just came up for air.

This week and last I have been busy with all those secret projects that I just can't talk about ... well maybe just a little.

In fact I can only hint at one project I am currently producing pages for written by Kevin Gunstone. I can't release a title yet but I can pop up a small sample of one of the pages. It's appropriately cryptic so as not to divulge any info about the story but can provide an idea of the tone of the project.

Secret project... sssshhhhhh

So thats it :) can't say or show any more...watch this space. There are 5 other projects I have creative fingers in as well, but they will have to wait for a timely disclosure :)

What I can show though is some absolutely brilliant colour work from Mike Summers on the final part of What The Flux's Red Angel series which I produced the line work for. So without further ado (nice one Mike!)

Now I must return to the chains and get back to the drawing tablet... and does anyone know how to get beer out of a keyboard?
